UPDATE: I know now, been here myself. The outside is basically just above. During the day you can see light coming in from some areas. I'm not sure exactly where it is top side but is in private property.
The concrete wall at the end would be a boundary where a new development took place on that lot and filled it in.
no, he didn't get trapped under the rubble. But he did leave a very small message on the back wall of this drain.

Wiz, this is down the "dead bodies" crawlspace, yeh? The roof in there seems aweful unstable. How close to the surface would that be? I dont think you'd want to much weight on it. And why is this room blocked off?
Went down there about a month ago, definately not for the faint hearted. I'm pretty sure its right below the surface. One section is a low crawl under those rusted support beams, many of which are collapsed..Wizard curious on your safety analysis of this section?
anklepants: I thought it was 'go in, gets bigger' but i might be wrong.
Zills: Well it certainly wouldn't pass any OHS&W tests, and you'd be wise to have your tetanus shots up to date. A similar section of roof completely collapsed a bit further upstream about 3 years back.

Is that the reason why this concrete wall in the photo was built, blocking this tunnel?
UrbanTwilight...
UrbanTwilight is photographing the underground tunnels, abandoned buildings, rooftops, and hidden industry that most people would never normally get to see. The images contained on this site have been shot in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart, and countless country locations inbetween. Nearly all have been taken in low to very-low lighting conditions, and most on Canon digital equipment.
The Julia Farr Home for Incurables
After sitting vacant for more than 30 years, the Julia Farr Hospital's 'Home for Incurables' has finally been demolished.
Urbantwilight hid a camera on the roof of a neighbouring bulding and filmed the 4 week demolition process. Checkout the timelapse video.

UrbanTwilight turns 10 this year so I've finally made some time between the tunnels and abandoned buildings (and my day job) to make a few improvements around the place.
The images are bigger, the old ones have been colour corrected, and a handful have been given the flick. Most importantly there's a whole new section called 'Archives' -
You should check it out from time to time, you never know what you might find.
The Funnel
An expedition report of sorts, this has been hiding on Urbantwilight for years. 'The Funnel', 'The Pothole', 'Skate or die'. Whatever you choose to call it, this place is awe-inspiring.
