Awsome shot but pretty dangerous if its an active tunnel.

LOOK AT THE RED LIGHT , THE TRAIN HAS JUST PARST , WHEN IT GREEN YOUR FUCKED ITS ONLY A MATTER OF WHEN YOU GET HIT. IF YOU CAVE TROLS MUST DO THIS THEN BE TRACK SAEF. AND WHEN TI COMES LIE FLAT ON YOUR STOMIC ALONG THE WALL AND PRAY.

which side the one with the little ladder or the one with the flat ledge?
This is not good advice to be handing out. There are atleast three different singalling systems in place in australian tunnels. They all operate differently.
wizard if thay are going to try it knowige is power ,the power to save your life, yes not good advice to hand out ! but better than knowing nuthing at all , and to ancer mini the ladder side . long live the wizard
The wrong information could also get someone killed. Trains can pass double red signals, and lying down against a wall in the wrong tunnel will get you squashed. People from all over the place are reading this, the tunnels / trains in their area may be quite different to what you're used to.

To the right hand side of the tunnel there is plenty of space, so I dont think you would get squashed, but even if was ok, the train driver would probably report your presence and the coppers would come.
Double Red means shit. That is the City Loop in Melbourne, which is bidirectionally signalled. Trains come from either direction. Safest place is that tunnel would be lying between the tracks. Safer not to be there when a train is due.

can a human lay flat and fit under a train?...... is that like a safety feature in case someone accidentaly falls under one?
Sto Man and Trainman. Giving people information that may well risk the life of an explorer because of your (aparent) knowledge of the train system, is very unwise. Unless you did the trackwork yourself then I suggest you keep your trap closed before someone reading this page ends up under the wheels of a Tangara! Don't be a know - it - all unless you really do know - it - all, which Im guessing you don't. My advice, listen to Wizard's advice!
If the curiosity is all too much and anyone does end up down in the tunnels, then in a life and death situation, use common sense. If there is an alcove, ladder or large gap on the side of the track, then stick to that side when a train does come.
If caught in the situation above when a train comes, I personally would jump up ontop of that pipe above the ladder and squeeze in towards the wall, standing upright. Knowing that the ladder is sticking out would tell me that the train is obviously not going to come that close, otherwise it would have knocked out the ladder along time ago.
To guest waz no you cant lye under a train, the new ones have a push bar to prevent that shit

creepy! imagine if you did fall on the track at the last minute. Why would they have push bars, is that like some kind of thing which enables the train to keep running if rocks and stuff where on the track?

i definately wouldn't be lying underneath a train, even if you could fit! Trains drop hot oil and i would hate that shit to be on my face. Anyone stop to think that trains were stopped for the evening. Melbourne train network isn't 24/7. You would have to be pretty retarded or really drunk to fuck up taht badly.

Josh_116: Spot on man, a little common sense goes a long way.
UrbanTwilight...
UrbanTwilight is photographing the underground tunnels, abandoned buildings, rooftops, and hidden industry that most people would never normally get to see. The images contained on this site have been shot in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart, and countless country locations inbetween. Nearly all have been taken in low to very-low lighting conditions, and most on Canon digital equipment.
The Julia Farr Home for Incurables
After sitting vacant for more than 30 years, the Julia Farr Hospital's 'Home for Incurables' has finally been demolished.
Urbantwilight hid a camera on the roof of a neighbouring bulding and filmed the 4 week demolition process. Checkout the timelapse video.

UrbanTwilight turns 10 this year so I've finally made some time between the tunnels and abandoned buildings (and my day job) to make a few improvements around the place.
The images are bigger, the old ones have been colour corrected, and a handful have been given the flick. Most importantly there's a whole new section called 'Archives' -
You should check it out from time to time, you never know what you might find.
The Funnel
An expedition report of sorts, this has been hiding on Urbantwilight for years. 'The Funnel', 'The Pothole', 'Skate or die'. Whatever you choose to call it, this place is awe-inspiring.

If you think this shit is cool and you plan on becoming the next K-rad-elite drain explorer, then you need to read this. It could save your life.
