Running down live train tracks is a sure fire way to get yourself squashed.
This photo was taken a long time ago. I doubt very much that the way we entered still exists.

what a shame--i must see that gong sometime--have they concreted up the abandoned tunnels from the used ones???
Depending on how you got in there (i assume by your comment that you have?), if the gates were left open you may have walked striaght past them without even noticing. As for the surveillance, there were news stories about it just last week... "300 new 'intelligent' cameras" deployed throughout the city.

I don't get where this is... Wasn't St James built with only four platforms (the inner two now joined with a continuous area where the tracks were meant to go)? Are there more unfinished platforms beyond the outer walls?
Or is this just beyond the centre part where the big false walls are? i.e. showing the end of one of the centre platforms.
It is now. Security cameras have been upgraded and they have more of them too. Bummer

This photo is perfect example of the hidden parts of St James Station Itself. The inner platforms are accessible by city rail employees because they are used as storage areas or working spaces for contractors maintaining the station platform. The portal that you can see in this photo now has an iron gate on it. and access to the unused platforms is via lockable doors at the opposite end of each platform, or via the gate's at each portal.

Its all open, went there the other day, Wizard, from there how do you get to the gong? Please tell
You're the K-rad xplorer kiddy that can apparently get in there when everyone else has told you its locked up tighter than a nuns proverbial. If you're so damn leet you'd be able to work it out for yourself.

I think you've already been told Edd. The original entrance doesn't exist anymore and everything else is locked up tight. How many times does it need to be said?
Dear Edd, ok it looks like I'm going to have to be the one to cut through the bullshit for you. You CAN get there, if you believe you can. Hear that little explorer inside you, listen to him, pay attention RREEAAAAL hard, follow the yellow brick road, find the last house on the left and think happy thoughts. You'll be fine. Sincerely, Me.
Just click your heels, Edd, there's no place like home... Oz and all of its wonders were just a dream...

IT IS LOCKED. TRUST US WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE LAKE AND THE GONG....TWO VERY DIFFERENT PLACES. LOCKED UP TIGHT PLUS MORE THAN A FEW CAMERAS. This isnt inception where you can plant an idea and it will become reality. Reality is, the gong may remain locked up tight for much time to come.

If you are intrested in seeing some of the graffiti down there. I can link you to the pictures of that, i didnt go down there for any other reasons except that. as for pics of the lake, i only took a shit camera, that i take out on a daily basis. The flash wasnt bright enough to capture the lake, seeing as its in a massive room, that is pitch black..

[Sep 26, 2012 at 04:19 AM]
How the hell do you expect someone to go down to "the haunted area" and then stay alive long enough to tell you about it, those tunnels extend for miles, if you want to go down there with some freaky arse thing with glowing see in the dark eyeballs stalking you be my guest. Not to mention the dangers of inhaling some nice blue gray asbestos dust, or inhaling experimental mushroom farm spores left over from when one of those tunnels was being used to mass produce 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) of mushrooms per month from 1933 till 1934. Anyone doing so runs not just the risk of being fined heavily or spending a night down at the local court house but also the very real risk of getting lost. "Well bugger it which way was out again? I cant remember did I turn left or right and would you adam and eve my flash light is running out and there's no signal on my cell phone..!" The only way you'd ever get me going down some freaky place like that would be if I was packing a sawn off 12 bore shotgun with double O rounds in it.. Then anything with glow in the dark eyeballs would get special treatment from my custom built boom stick! "Have some of that, not so clever now are you!" I can almost hear it now "Congratulations you've discovered a hither to unknown form of life that was looking at you thinking your lunch and blown its head off clean off!"
what a wonderful underground light rail system we could have

So is the main gate at the end of the St James platform impenetrable? Has anyone tried getting through whilst locked? Or are the billion and one security cameras turning people away before they even jump the platform?
Also I wouldn't be surprised if half those securities camera's aren't even switched on.

UrbanTwilight...
UrbanTwilight is photographing the underground tunnels, abandoned buildings, rooftops, and hidden industry that most people would never normally get to see. The images contained on this site have been shot in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart, and countless country locations inbetween. Nearly all have been taken in low to very-low lighting conditions, and most on Canon digital equipment.
The Julia Farr Home for Incurables
After sitting vacant for more than 30 years, the Julia Farr Hospital's 'Home for Incurables' has finally been demolished.
Urbantwilight hid a camera on the roof of a neighbouring bulding and filmed the 4 week demolition process. Checkout the timelapse video.
14/02/13
UrbanTwilight turns 10 this year so I've finally made some time between the tunnels and abandoned buildings (and my day job) to make a few improvements around the place.
The images are bigger, the old ones have been colour corrected, and a handful have been given the flick. Most importantly there's a whole new section called 'Archives' -
You should check it out from time to time, you never know what you might find.
The Funnel
An expedition report of sorts, this has been hiding on Urbantwilight for years. 'The Funnel', 'The Pothole', 'Skate or die'. Whatever you choose to call it, this place is awe-inspiring.
