Apparently the St James train tunnels are the answer to Sydney's water supply crisis!?

Id rather drink that water as is, over any recycled chem'd up stuff, That place looks magnificent. I should head down to SYD, see some good beach pics, tidal drains RULE.

is this place home of eric the eel, as in the legend
At night, during high tide, eels crawl up through cracks in the sandstone walls at the edge of the Botanic Gardens at Farm cove where they meet Sydney Harbour. They then wriggle their way into the ponds there, where they are safe from the predators of the deep. Lake St. James is a product of runoff from the irrigation systems at the Botanic Gardens and The Domain. The trip is really quite a simple one
wizard i would love to go with you to see these places you seem like the guru of the syd underground. i came across your website back in 07 and keep coming back. these photos amaze me more than anything in the world.

has anyone honestly been down there? after watching the movie called 'the tunnel (2011)' im actually quite weary about it..
What you don't know is that these photos were all taken by a guy called 'Wizard' quite a few years ago. The shots of St James were the last ones he took and he was never seen again. This site is maintained by a number of people who knew the great explorer, Wizard (RIP), and want to share his life's work with all of you.

so how did the photos come about if he went missing in the tunnels then
I guess you don't want to know about the other 200 or so photos in the other albums. Noone deserves to have that much of their life stolen.

there used to be a dodgy raft made of junk on the beach. You got wet using it, room for one person only. The water does indeed get pretty deep by the far end. As a teen swam down there once or twice, comes to a rough rocky dead end, but possibly continues but has been filled in. It is off St James Station and used to be easy to get into without going on any train tracks.

yes, there are homeless people and monsters that live down there...
At least we can have cryptically trimmed segments of text that mention Louis Vuitton stuff!

monsters? LOL.. "The Tunnel" wasn't filmed here, people. Access, not any more. I was here 19/12/14.
UrbanTwilight...
UrbanTwilight is photographing the underground tunnels, abandoned buildings, rooftops, and hidden industry that most people would never normally get to see. The images contained on this site have been shot in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart, and countless country locations inbetween. Nearly all have been taken in low to very-low lighting conditions, and most on Canon digital equipment.
The Julia Farr Home for Incurables
After sitting vacant for more than 30 years, the Julia Farr Hospital's 'Home for Incurables' has finally been demolished.
Urbantwilight hid a camera on the roof of a neighbouring bulding and filmed the 4 week demolition process. Checkout the timelapse video.
14/02/13
UrbanTwilight turns 10 this year so I've finally made some time between the tunnels and abandoned buildings (and my day job) to make a few improvements around the place.
The images are bigger, the old ones have been colour corrected, and a handful have been given the flick. Most importantly there's a whole new section called 'Archives' -
You should check it out from time to time, you never know what you might find.
The Funnel
An expedition report of sorts, this has been hiding on Urbantwilight for years. 'The Funnel', 'The Pothole', 'Skate or die'. Whatever you choose to call it, this place is awe-inspiring.

If you think this shit is cool and you plan on becoming the next K-rad-elite drain explorer, then you need to read this. It could save your life.
Eerily beautiful photo, though!
