Wizard you seem to know a fair bit about the history of these sites. How do you get your info?

What is actually at the end? Both times I've been here it was raining in the previous days and the water was quite deep a few hundred metres in... Never been able to see the end

I was in this tunnel on the weekend. It's located right near helensburgh station, walk past a yellow house through the scrub, theres about 30 meters of old platform on your right, and straight ahead is the entrance to the tunnel. you cant see it from the road. walk about 50m in and you begin to see glow worms. the further you go in, the more you see because of the darkness. keep in mind that the sand turns to water about 100m in nd ifyou go any further you would need either a canoe.

It is actually called Metropolitan Tunnel. You can't get to the end. The other end is bricked up, and the use the tunnel as a water storage reservoir to douse an undergound fire at Metropolitan colliery.
